Ebony CEO Mo Abudu has publicly explained why she expects younger people to address her with titles rather than call her by her first name.

In an interview with Toke Makinwa on Toke Moments, the 61-year-old media mogul has explained that as a traditional person whose upbringing influenced her views on respect, she demands to be addressed properly by younger adults.

After Toke asked if she should be addressed as “aunty”, the media mogul added that she is a traditional person and shouldn’t be addressed with her first name.

“I am very traditional. I was brought up in Ondo by my grandmother. You can’t be calling me by my first name anyhow. I can’t take it.”

According to Mo, she believed she would have been addressed more positively if she were a man, than be described as a “shark”.

“If I was a man, they wouldn’t say I was a shark. They’re going to say she’s an astute business woman.”

Mo had further commented on relationship saying that she’s not concerned about heartbreak while stating that “nobody can break my heart”.

During the conversation with Toke Makinwa, Mo revealed that she preferred to date men around her age or older. She pointed out that her partner must have achieved something great in life before she can genuinely respect him.

Many Nigerians have commented on Mo’s claims about traditional values and respect as some supported her claims while others described titles she could be addressed with.
